Background: Young Artists 2018
Dear friends,
Since 2010, we organize the exhibition "Background: Young Artists" in Plovdiv, with which SARIEV Contemporary aims to present and support young Bulgarian artists and curators. "Background: Young Artists" started in 2010 with the exhibition "Project 01" by Kiril Kuzmanov and Svetoslav Michev with curator Vladiya Mihaylova. Since then, within the project have been presented exhibitions by a number of young artists, for whom participation in the project is an important boost for their career. These are Lubri (2011, curator Vera Mlechevska), Zoran Georgiev (2012, curator: Pravdoliub Ivanov), Daniela Georgieva (2013, curator Friederike Schuler), Dimitar Solakov (2014) and Martina Vacheva (2016, curator Vera Mlechevska).
Over the years, "Background: Young Artists" grew into a platform and established itself as a factor in the development of the presented authors, who later became part of the leading names of Bulgarian contemporary art, award winners and some of them - internationally successful artists. In 2016 the exhibition platform expanded with new formats: Portfolio Day - after an open invitation, young artists under the age of 35 are selected for the opportunity to receive individual counseling from a professional committee composed of leading curators, artists and gallerists, and 15 Minutes of Fame – a presentation format in which young artists can present their work to an audience. The event is designed dramaturgically and includes interludes with music and performances. The natural result of the development of the platform is its moving from Plovdiv, where the editions so far have taken place, to Sofia.
We are pleased to announce that this year, within the framework of "Background: Young Artists", we organize an intensive two-day event format, for the first time in Sofia and at two different locations: Tell Me Bar and SARIEV Studio. The events were held on the weekend of 30 June – 1 July 2018.

Ropotamo CO presents itself as a collective formation in which amateurs and professionals take part together to practice the improvisations of electro-acoustic music. The jams range from percussive to synth and vocal explorations over cdj dedicated selections, thus resulting in a variety of spontaneous outcomes and musical moments.
