Bignia Wehrli

Bignia Wehrli, born 1979 in Uster, Switzerland, is an artist based in Berlin and Sternenberg (CH). She studied fine art with Monika Brandmeier at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts. During her studies she spent half a year in Paris (Ecole des Beaux-Arts) on an Erasmus scholarship. After receiving her „Meisterschüler“ degree in Dresden, she moved to China, where she pursued post-graduate studies on a DAAD scholarship at the China Academy of Art in Hangzhou. Bignia Wehrli has shown her work internationally in many exhibitions. Recent exhibitions include her solo show at the Kunsthalle Winterthur (2018), a duo exhibition at the Inna Art Space Hangzhou (2018), group shows at the KunstHaus Potsdam (2019), Altana Galerie Dresden (2019), Kunstmuseum Winterthur (2019), and Shenzhen Pingshan International Sculpture Exhibition (2019). In 2015 she won the first prize in a Swiss art-in-architecture project for a primary school in Winterthur. Bignia Wehrli has held various teaching positions, including at the HfBK Dresden, the UdK Berlin, and the Mozarteum Salzburg. Since 2015 she has been teaching art at the Faculty of Architecture and Landscape at Leibniz Universität Hannover.
