Rudi Ninov joins SARIEV!

SARIEV Gallery has the great pleasure to announce its representation of the young and emerging artist Rudi Ninov!

Driven by his ongoing interest in early animation cinema and the impromptu ethos of experimental and jazz music, Rudi creates compositions that evoke a variety of associations. His work can be described as non-representational and based on intricate interplay of color, form and space - but there is always something fundamentally allegorical about them. His work is imbued with the mechanism of movement, stillness and duration, qualities often attributed to the figurative in art and other time-based media. His large-scale canvases next to those of smaller format, elicit a sense diagrammatic multiplicity and endless rhythmic complexities, which seem to effortlessly spring from Rudi’s expanding lexicon.

In contrast to the two-dimensional work’s weightlessness and graphic potency, the sculptures present a materiality of surface tensions and textures that act as broken synonyms to his drawings and paintings.

This accession is a natural process in the development of SARIEV's relationship with the artist and his work. Starting from earlier discussions in 2015 with its founders Vesselina and Katrin Sariev, followed by the Portfolio Day in 2018. Rudi’s debut with SARIEV began in early 2020, with the gallery’s project #sarievselfisolation, followed by his solo presentations at Liste Basel Showtime and NOT CANCELLED East x South. In 2021 his work will be shown as part of the 15th year anniversary of Kunsthalle Mannheim, Germany, as well as an upcoming joint group show between Goethe Institute and Swimming Pool, in Sofia.

Rudi Ninov (born 1992, Bulgaria) is a Frankfurt based artist who works across painting, drawing and sculpture. He received his BA from Goldsmiths College, London in 2015 and is currently continuing his studies at the Städelschule, Frankfurt, Germany.
