Sarieva/Gallery’s program and activities have always extended beyond its physical space. Throughout its history, we have initiated and supported projects realized in public space, including video installations, interventions, sculptural projects, which were developed with local and international artists and curators. These projects took place in various locations in the city of Plovdiv, such as Kapana quarter, Cosmos Cinema, Pelicans’ Fountain at Stefan Stambolov Sq.
In 2017, Sarieva/Gallery (previously Sariev Contemporary) started collaboration with the Roman Catholic Diocese of Sofia and Plovdiv, which was manifested in two exhibition projects that took place in the Catholic Church from the 19th century St. Joseph in Plovdiv. That year, the gallery presented the solo show “I Walk a Labyrinth Which is a Straight Line” by Stefan Nikolaev in the gallery’s white cube and in St. Joseph Church, which was a first exhibition in the history of this church. It was followed in 2018 by the solo show “What energy do we put into transforming things, with undisguised pleasure” by Rada Boukova, which was also realized in these two locations.
